Oh snap dude!, Owen is now an official Mozilla Campus Representative! Yeah, that’s right. I could possibly be the only Mozilla Campus Rep here in Minnesota, or at least in Winona, MN. Now that I am an official rep, I have several responsibilities to fulfill. Count ‘em off kiddies:

  1. I will, to the best of my ability, attempt to convert those now currently worshiping the devil (using Internet Explorer) to worshiping God (using Firefox)
  2. I think I get a free t-shirt. Sweet
  3. Although I didn’t specify in the survey, I just might start a Firefox club here at school. Please leave comments about what you think of the name of the club should be. Please don’t say ‘Club Firefox’ or ‘The Firefox Club’
  4. St. Mary’s might have some super cool Firefox events now ; p
  5. Portray Internet Explorer as most evilest thing on the Earth

I guess the easiest way to start spreading Firefox is to try and get everyone in my dorm to use the best browser in the world. From there, I will try and spread it even more but I obviously don’t have enough resources currently to make the whole campus to convert yet. I know that a lot of people in my dorm are pretty technologically unsavvy so those will be the hardest people to convert. The reason for this is because these people are so uncomfortable with computers that they would like to make as few changes as possible to their computer or else they think it might explode. This is, of course, not true or at least not for me. But I think, after I get my friends using Firefox, they will really appreciate how much faster the Internets are without Internet Explorer. They will discover that they are not slaves to slow speeds and page refreshes. They will discover they never have to look at an online ad ever again. They will discover how great the Internet really is. And I believe, that by converting these people to Firefox, they will become just a little less afraid of technology.

I have seen my friends using Internet Explorer. It is truly sad. Pretty much anytime I see them using it, they always get frustrated becuase ‘it’s so slow,’ or they ask: ‘why isn’t this working? WTF???.’ Once I wean them off of IE, they will be so happy because they have been stuck with an inferior browser for so long.

Hopefully, I can make this switch happen. I will spam all the bulletin boards with awesome flyers to spread Firefox. I will force people to upgrade. I will eat Internet Explorer for dinner. And then I found five dollars.
