Alright so the Boxxy thing fell through so instead, I decided to take a few minutes to talk about Patrick McNally’s video making ability/progress. To make it short and sweet, Patrick’s video ideas are awesome but almost short of pure awesomeness because of technical/production problems. Since I’ve never made a short film, maybe I don’t know what it takes but I feel that I have a pretty good grasp on it. Let’s start with my background in video just to make sure I can’t be torn completely to shreds.
My video production “career,” if you could put it that way, began September of the 2008 school year in Mater Dei’s Television Production I. At first, I was a little intimidated by the equipment, teachers, and frankly, some of the other students. I slowly became acclimated to the MDTV climate and I was able to hold my own in only a couple of weeks. At MDTV, students learn a variety of video production, editing, lighting, sound, and various other A/V skills. Granted only so much can be taught in one year about these things, but I took in as much as I could. middle of January and it hasn’t snowed – at least since I’ve been here – since December 12th or thereabouts. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!? I came to a school in the Midwest for one of several reasons. One of those reasons was because it’s supposed to actually snow during the winter. I didn’t come here to be cold without snow falling. While trying to procrastinate on this post, I just checked the weather and WeatherBug reports “flurries.” Flurries are like the snow equivalent to drizzle. Well, all I know is that I’m going to be flurried if it doesn’t snow here soon.
My fellow Californians might be curious as to why I want it to snow so badly. I stated the reason for that above in brief, but I’ll expand upon it here in more detail. Living in California has given me weather tunnel vision, if one could call it that, which blinded me from the knowledge of what it’s like to live in freezing cold temperatures and snow. Well, no longer. Since being at school here for over four months, I have developed a pretty good idea of what it feels like to live in sub-freezing temperatures, snow, and ice. Writer’s Block

I kinda had writer’s block, so I have posted this essay I wrote for intro to literature. Sorry about this Pat, I’ll try again tomorrow.
Reality is all around us. We are reality; the writing of this paper is reality as is the story of John Berendt’s “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” Reality is what actually happens in real life and the presentation of reality is so fine that it simply cannot be made up or fabricated. What makes Berendt’s presentation of his life in Savannah, Georgia is the skillful manipulation and placement of just the right words to create a masterpiece that replicates real life while maintaining an edge – a curiosity or hook as it may be. Books that are written non-fictitiously tend to be boring, recollecting the events in dull detail and lending no part to action or suspense. On the other hand, books that are written fictitiously tend to quickly grab the reader’s attention and draw the reader into an elaborate plot where events seems to drop in and occur and just the right moment in time and space to keep the story going and the suspense high. Guess What?… St. Mary’s now has an official Mozilla Campus Rep!

Oh snap dude!, Owen is now an official Mozilla Campus Representative! Yeah, that’s right. I could possibly be the only Mozilla Campus Rep here in Minnesota, or at least in Winona, MN. Now that I am an official rep, I have several responsibilities to fulfill. Count ‘em off kiddies:
- I will, to the best of my ability, attempt to convert those now currently worshiping the devil (using Internet Explorer) to worshiping God (using Firefox)
- I think I get a free t-shirt. Sweet
- Although I didn’t specify in the survey, I just might start a Firefox club here at school. Please leave comments about what you think of the name of the club should be. Please don’t say ‘Club Firefox’ or ‘The Firefox Club’
- St. Mary’s might have some super cool Firefox events now ; p
- Portray Internet Explorer as most evilest thing on the Earth
I guess the easiest way to start spreading Firefox is to try and get everyone in my dorm to use the best browser in the world. From there, I will try and spread it even more but I obviously don’t have enough resources currently to make the whole campus to convert yet. I know that a lot of people in my dorm are pretty technologically unsavvy so those will be the hardest people to convert. The More >
