MLIA — Not so Average Anymore

Today, while I was brows­ing through MyLifeIsAv​er​age​.com, I have slowly come to a per­sonal con­sen­sus that MLIA has trans­formed into a web­site about not so aver­age sto­ries. Back in the day, MLIAs used to be clever, funny, and most impor­tantly; short. Exam­ples of good orig­i­nal MLIAs:

  • Today, I real­ized the word bed actu­ally looks like a bed. MLIA
  • Today, my teacher saw me tex­ting under the desk and grabbed my phone. She didnt grab my penis. MLIA.
  • Today I installed a pro­gram and it asked if I had read and agreed to the terms and con­di­tions. I hadn’t, but I clicked ‘yes’ any­way. The pro­gram didn’t know I lied, and began to install. MLIA.
  • Today, I went to the store and bought some Land o Lakes cheese. On the label, it said ‘LOL Cheese’. I laughed. MLIA
  • Today, I wore Axe body spray. I wasn’t tack­led by any women. MLIA.

Truly funny, short, and believ­able. There are sev­eral aspects that an MLIA must con­tain in order to qual­ify itself. The first and most impor­tant is the obvi­ous one; the story must be true, not made up. This aspect is essen­tial to the fun­ni­ness fac­tor of an MLIA. Things that piss me off… a lot. Part I

OK, so this is actu­ally the first real post I’ve ever made, so be nice. Things that piss me off… a lot. At the top of this list is peo­ple who post pic­tures on social net­work­ing web sites (Face­book, Porn­Space [I have it from a good source this is true], etc…) that con­tain ref­er­ences to alco­hol when the par­tic­i­pat­ing par­ties are under the age of 21. If CBS didn’t cen­sor Dr. Phil, I’m sure he would say (his famous line, uncen­sored): WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?!?!?! (With the expla­na­tion and ques­tion marks) There are sev­eral rea­sons why these types of pic­tures piss me off.

  1. There is an inti­mate pos­si­bil­ity that an employer will come across this pic­ture and not hire you. Let me give you a word of advice my beer picture-posting friends (just a fig­ure of speech. I don’t actu­ally have any): employ­ers want some­one who is a well-rounded per­son, some­one who can com­mu­ni­cate well, some­one who is a good leader, some­one who can work well in a group set­ting, some­one who makes good choices, and most impor­tantly; some­one they can trust.
